Senegal, West Africa
Flew from Johannesburg South Africa overnight and arrived in Dakar Senegal on Tuesday morn. It is very hot here, but has rained already a couple times, which is unusual here for Senegal. In fact it has been such an ususual rainy season that it has rained too much!
So the best rain in years has resulted in so much rain that it is spoiling the harvest. They can't win.
We traveled deep into the interior of Senegal several hundred kilometers, to visit friends and ministry partners, and conditions are pretty rough. There is often no power, and water is iffy. We were hassled by the police but were not arrested. So that is a plus!
Tonight we are staying next to the beach, somewhat closer back to the city of Dakar, with more friends.
Unfortunately, we found out that we are not going to be able to travel to Liberia, one of our targets for the trip. But we have not been short changed in any way.
In the next couple days, I will be teaching a fundamental business class to folks here who can't read and who can't count ... wish me luck!
Sorry no pictures, unable to post on this french style computer!
