We are Kevin and Fiona and we have departed from Jefferson Oregon ... we will start heading West and keep going. The plan is to just keep heading West until we come back around to Oregon.

Heading for Home?

Sunset over the Atlantic on the beach in Senegal

Horsing Around on Goree Island

Wow has it already been thirty one days? Is our trip drawing to a close? Hard to believe, but we are heading to the airport tonight to begin our journey home. It has been interesting, adventurous, dangerous (at times), unusual, busy, tiring, hot, surprising, and so many more adjectives.
We have been so busy most of the time that I had to really work hard to get a blog post done, and often there was no internet anyway, so we couldn't get on. Plus, it has been a good time to be gone and caught up in this African journey, with all the sour news back home and what not (is the election over yet?)
This last ten days have been in Senegal West Africa and we have spent the entire time in the company of friends. We have a lot of involvement here in Senegal, and it was somewhat hectic at times getting around to see everyone and take care of things. The Andando Foundation was a total focus. We have a lot of full luggage coming home.

One of the more interesting aspects of the trip was the currency in different places, and constantly shifting back and forth between dollars, rand, pula, metecal, and shillings. This is a challenge for the modern traveler, different money everywhere and dealing with ever moving exchange rates. At least the US dollar is pretty strong in Africa.

There is a lot more to tell and maybe in the coming days I can share some more. We have been to South Africa, Uganda, Mozambique, Botswana, and Senegal. There was a potential for more travel but we had to change plans for Liberia and Sierra Leone.

Thanks for following along.
